Our journey began somewhere in North London...

... with a cheese sandwich. As Ian was to later quote, "We don't do these things because they are easy, we do them because they are hard."
Later on, we found an angel.


Suitably inspired, we went to Lindesfarne where we saw the sun and the moon together. However, it was late in the day and the the holy buildings of Holy Island were shut. Bring back St. Cuthbert! After that it was on to Berwick-upon-Tweed for a luxurious bed & breakfast and a few jars of ale.
2nd April 2007
Crossing the Tweed took us into Scotland and bad weather. Crossing the Forth looked like this:

We drove up the A9 to Inverness and then on Rhue, near Ullapool, where Duncan's folks live:
